What is a Capture node?

Modified on Thu, 18 Dec at 10:10 AM

A Capture Action is the action which creates Source Information.  Put another way, a Capture Action injects new information into an Information Supply Chain.

By definition, it marks the start point of an Information Supply Chain and can therefore only have outbound information.

A Capture Action can be performed by a person or automated by a System.  An example of the former is a person typing information into a form; an example of the latter is an automatic weather station gathering meteorological information.

The Capture action also defines the volume of work which flows through the model. This is expressed as the frequency of work. You can visualise frequency in your model using the 'Items' label.
